Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter
Dog of the week: Goldie
Meet Goldie!
Goldie is a six-year-old male staffy cross who is a gold medallist at stealing hearts – can he steal yours?
A quirky gentleman, Goldie is known for his playful and goofy nature.
He is an active boy who would thrive in a home where he can be included as part of the family, enjoying both indoor and outdoor time.
A home with a backyard and easy access to the outdoors would be the best home possible for Goldie.
This special boy came into care through no fault of his own and unfortunately didn’t learn much about the ‘great indoors’ during his early years.
A patient owner who can help teach him some household manners would go a long way in helping Goldie adjust to the good life.
If you have to go out, Goldie won’t mind too much.
He’ll be safe and happy with some fun toys, tasty treats, fresh water, and a sheltered, snuggly bed. He loves his daily enrichment and interactive feeders are his favourite way to keep his mind and body active.
Goldie would do best as the only dog in the home, as he prefers to have all the love, pats, and attention to himself and is disinterested in other four-legged companions.
He is good with children who are older and confident enough to handle his playful side. Though a staffy cross, Goldie isn’t the biggest of the bunch.
At the shelter he enjoys bonding time with staff, pats, a good, tasty chew and flaunting his favourite winter jackets.
If you can give this boy the gold-medal home he deserves please get in touch with the Illawarra Shelter.
Horse of the Week: Rufus
Meet Rufus!
Rufus is a bold, chestnut and white miniature pony who hopes to ride off into the sunset with his new family – metaphorically, of course.
When Rufus arrived in care he had conveniently forgotten to bring his birth certificate. Though he claimed to be not a day over 21 (in horse years), Rufus is definitely approaching his silver-horse years.
Don’t let his maturity fool you though, Rufus is as full of energy and curiosity as they come.
He loves making new friends and has a knack for cracking up shelter staff with his cheeky antics.
Miniature horses like Rufus make fantastic pets.
They are known for their friendly and goofy nature, which makes them great companions for both humans and other animals.
Their small size also makes them easier to handle and care for compared to larger horses.
Rufus is looking to be a faithful companion to some ponies or horses that you already have at home.
Due to him having laminitis, he needs a shaded place to live and with limited access to grass as eating too much of it isn’t good for his health.
Rufus is searching for an experienced owner who can manage his condition and handle his playful personality. Though he may be a bit of a handful at times, Rufus promises to be well worth it.
If you’re ready for a cheeky, charming and energetic companion, come meet Rufus and see if he could be the perfect addition to your family!
