Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter
Dog of the week: Marlo
Meet Marlo!
Marlo is a sweet, cuddly lady, looking for her new home.
At 12 years old Marlo hopes to spend her golden years being loved and in comfort. Marlo would suit a quieter home where she can be an integral part of the family, enjoying both indoor and outdoor time.
She loves gentle strolls and snuggling up on a soft bed by your feet. Any children in the home should be over six years old, calm, and confident around dogs.
When you need to go out, Marlo will be content with some fun toys, tasty treats, a fresh water bowl, and a sheltered, cozy bed to keep her safe and happy until you return. She would benefit from daily enrichment and interactive feeders to keep her mind and body active.
As an older girl, rest is crucial for Marlo. She needs her beauty sleep to stay energetic and happy. A quiet, safe space like her own bed or a crate would be perfect for catching some much needed z’s after a day full of fun and cuddles.
Marlo would be best as the only dog in the home, as she prefers to have all the love, pats, and attention for herself.
Senior pets like Marlo are usually more settled and have a calm demeanour. Older pets form deep bonds with their owners and are less high energy than a puppy, making them a great addition to any household but especially those that are older themselves.
If you’re looking for a loving, low-key companion to share your life with, Marlo is ready to bring joy and warmth to your home.
Cat of the week: Alvin
Meet Alvin!
If you’re looking for a Netflix and wine evening kind of friend, look no further.
Alvin is a gentle three-year-old ginger cat who came into care via RSPCA NSW inspectors. Since then he has built up his confidence and is ready to start a new chapter in a loving home.
He has a mellow attitude, perfect for quiet evenings and his independent nature means he doesn’t need constant attention. Don’t let this fool you though, he is a true ginger cat at heart and adores cuddles – gladly curling up with you when it’s time to relax!
At first, Alvin can be a bit shy, but his sweet personality shines through once he gets to know you.
Nap time is one of Alvin’s favourite pastimes, and you’ll often find him snuggled up in a cozy spot enjoying a well-deserved rest. He also has a penchant for treats, which is a great way to win his heart and help him feel comfortable.
One of the most rewarding aspects of adopting Alvin will be gaining his trust and forming a bond with him.
Though he is a wonderful friend to everyone he meets, he needs a home with no children under 15 years old to ensure he has a calm and comfortable environment where he can flourish.
Last week’s pets, Polly and Cardinal, are still searching for their forever homes.
Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Rd, Unanderra, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 4271 3410.
