Meet our loveable Pets of the Week looking for their forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter.

Dog of the week: Mutley

Meet Mutley!

This one-year-old staffy mix has braved a long road to get to where he is now, but with the help of RSPCA NSW vets and the Illawarra Shelter staff, he is eager to take the next step and find a kind, understanding family ready to accept him for who he is.

A sensitive soul with a generous heart, Mutley forms deep, meaningful bonds with those willing to dote on him at his own pace.

He thrives when he’s included in people’s steady, predictable routines, deriving assurance from simply being near those he trusts most.

To help him truly thrive, Mutley would greatly benefit from following a structured daily routine and continuing his current medication plan to support his emotional wellbeing.

This will need to be maintained alongside veterinary and behavioural guidance.

Mutley will do best with adopters who are committed to providing consistency, patience, and a structured, predictable home.

Because Mutley can be overwhelmed by loud or sudden noises, he’d also prefer to go home to a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood.

Busy households, frequent visitors, or unpredictable environments might be too much for him, but in the right setting, his sweet and affectionate nature will have room to shine.

Mutley doesn’t rush into relationships, but for the right person, a bond built with Mutley will be a friendship like no other.

If you’re someone who can find fulfilment in uplifting a truly special soul, Mutley might be the perfect canine companion for you.

Cat of the week: Armani

Meet Armani!

This two-year-old cat boasts striking looks and a gentle soul.

After nearly 100 days in care, Armani is more than ready to leave shelter life behind and settle into the calm, loving home he has dreamed of all his life.

Armani is a sensitive boy who takes a little time to feel safe in new environments, which is why he’s seeking an adopter who understands both cats and the value of a slow and thoughtful introduction.

A quiet, peaceful household would suit Armani best.

A little space and patience will help him gain the confidence he needs to come out of his shell and fall into a relaxed routine with his new forever family.

Once you’ve gained his trust, however, Armani’s true colours are sure to shine!

He’s wonderfully affectionate and often has plenty to say, never shying away from using his voice to let you know he’s ready for attention.

Expect frequent head bunts, lots of purring, and a smoochy shadow who loves the company of his favourite humans.

If you’re willing to give a feline friend the time they need to settle, Armani might just be the adorable companion you’ve always wanted.
