Dogs of the week: Ruby and Maisy

Meet Ruby and Maisy!

This week our featured pets come as a dynamic duo.

Ruby and Maisy are the perfect pair looking for their perfect home.

These girls are both one-year-old Maltese shih tzu crosses.

They would thrive in a quieter home where they can be included as part of the family, enjoying both indoor and outdoor time together. Having been together their entire lives, it’s essential that these two girls go to their new home together!

Ruby and Maisy are full of personality and aren’t afraid to show it! Although they haven’t had the best start in life, they are both learning to enjoy the good things, like pats, cuddles and lots of yummy treats.

Shih tzus as a breed have their roots in Tibet, where they were bred as companion dogs for Tibetan monks. The breed was later developed in China, where it became a favoured pet of the Chinese royalty.

Similarly, the Maltese is one of the oldest toy breeds around today, with a history that dates back over 2000 years.

This small, elegant breed was often associated with royalty and nobility in ancient times and the dogs were kept as companions by the wealthy.

Both breeds have maintained their status as beloved companion dogs throughout the centuries due to their charming personalities and beautiful appearance and are cherished for their affectionate nature.

Ruby and Maisy make no exception! These loving ladies are born for the high life and can’t wait to reward their new owners with all of their loyalty and charm.

Ruby and Maisy are best suited to a household with children over six years old who are calm and confident around dogs.

They would benefit from having a safe space of their own, such as a crate or a quiet room with a soft bed, where they can relax together and unwind when things get overwhelming.

They are true attention lovers and would be happiest as the only dogs in the home, soaking up all the love, pats, and attention for themselves – after all, two queens are more than enough for one castle!

Both of their gorgeous coats will require regular grooming to keep them looking and feeling their best. It’s important that their new owners understand the maintenance requirements of owning such a beautiful pair.

If Ruby and Maisy sound like the perfect pups for you, please make an appointment to meet them.

Last week’s Cat of the Week, Leonie, has found her forever home – but Dog of the Week Zola is still on the hunt for hers.

Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Rd, Unanderra, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 4271 3410.
