Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter

Dog of the week: Sam

Sam is a sweet and laid-back pug looking for his forever home!

Sam is a two-year-old black pug made of sugar, spice and everything nice.

He is everything you could want in a companion — affectionate, mild-mannered, and ready to join you for life’s gentle adventures.

Pugs are known for their loving and loyal nature, and Sam is no exception. With his adorable wrinkly face and soulful eyes, he’s sure to melt your heart at first sight.

Known for their easygoing disposition, pugs are an ideal pet for those who enjoy a calm and relaxed lifestyle.

Sam would fit beautifully in a home with seniors or those who prefer to stay in rather than head out every weekend.

He loves nothing more than curling up next to his human for a quiet day or a cozy evening, providing all the warmth and companionship you could ask for.

Though Sam has a quiet nature, he’s also eager to learn and explore the world in his own way.

He would love opportunities to discover his new neighbourhood and keep his mind and body active, whether it be a short walk to a nearby park or a puzzle treat to work on at home.

Sam is social and friendly with other pups and has a sweet, nonchalant attitude toward other animals, too. If you have another dog already in the home, please bring them in to meet each other.

While Sam is as friendly as they come, he’s sensitive to loud environments and would thrive in a quiet, calm household. His ideal home is one where he can feel safe, relaxed, and able to settle into his new family at his own pace.

He’d also appreciate a family with average working hours, so he has plenty of time to bond with his people.

Shaydes loves a challenge - and he's partial to a bit of classical music, too. Could this clever boy be your new best friend?

Cat of the week: Shaydes

Meet Shaydes!

Shaydes is a playful young cat who’s ready to steal your heart.

Looking for a charming, adventurous companion who’s ready to bring fun and joy into your home? Then look no further!

Shaydes is a handsome one-year-old male cat who’s got the energy and personality to brighten any room.

Unlike your average lap-loving feline, Shaydes is a little more spice than sugar. He has a curious spirit and a zest for life.

This boy is all about playtime, stimulation, and enjoys the simple pleasures of a good challenge. Toys, string games, cardboard rolls —whatever you bring his way, Shaydes is ready to take it on!

Male cats are known for their affectionate, fun-loving personalities, and Shaydes is an excellent example. He’s not just active, he’s a friend who’ll keep you entertained and on your toes!

Lest you think he’s an uncouth comapanion, Shaydes wants you to know he has a refined side, too.

He doesn’t mind unwinding with a little TV time and is quite partial to some classical music.

Once he burns all of his energy, he loves to lounge around and cuddle until his next big adventure begins.

Shaydes has a gorgeous coat that requires daily brushing. This ritual is a great bonding opportunity and will ensure he is always feeling comfortable and at his best.

To help Shaydes settle in smoothly, a launch room would be incredibly helpful. Once he feels safe and secure in his new home, he’ll be more than happy to roam and explore!

Shaydes would do best in a home with no children under 15 due to his exuberant personality. A home where he can get plenty of love, structure, and a routine would be perfect for him (and plenty of toys and scratching posts!)

Last week’s Dog of the Week, Saki, has found his forever home – but Cat of the Week Pipsqueek is still on the prowl for his new family.

Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Rd, Unanderra, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 4271 3410.
