Sammy the bantam is looking for a roost to rule – have you got a flock for him? Photo: Illawarra RSPCA.
Meet our loveable Pets of the Week looking for their forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter.
Rooster of the week: Sammy
Meet Sammy!
Sammy is a charming Bantam with a big personality packed into a pint-sized frame.
At just two years old, this spirited rooster is on the lookout for a flock to call his own.
Fine feathers might not make fine birds, but Sammy’s here to prove that just sometimes they do.
Sammy spends his days doing what he loves most: scratching in the dirt, pecking at his veggies, and enjoying the company of his many feathered friends.
He’s a sociable little chap who thrives in the company of other chickens.
He would make a great addition to a flock that appreciates his friendly nature.
To keep Sammy safe and sound, he’ll need secure housing to protect him from predators and prevent any unexpected adventures.
With proper shelter and a gentle hand, Sammy is sure to enjoy his place in the family he deserves.

If you like a furry companion who makes you earn your place in their heart, Pigeon is the cat for you. He’s also very cute. Photo: Illawarra RSPCA.
Cat of the week: Pigeon
Meet Pigeon!
Pigeon is a gentle and contemplative soul searching for the love he deserves.
While he may be shy at first, a little time and kindness will prove that Pigeon has the potential to blossom into an unwaveringly loyal feline friend.
Pigeon lives life at his own pace, meaning that his family will have to live with his preference for calm and peaceful spaces.
He communicates in subtle ways – through a flick of the tail, or a shift in posture.
Though he’s not the type to demand attention, his quiet presence and subtle cues speak volumes to those who take the time to listen.
With a little space, a consistent routine, and a person who respects his boundaries, Pigeon is sure to show his affection in his own way.
As a cat with FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), Pigeon will still be able to live a happy and comfortable life – he just needs family willing to manage his health and keep him comfortable indoors.
If you feel like the strongest bonds are built with patience and mutual respect, Pigeon might be the lifelong friend you’ve always imagined having.
