Meet our loveable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter.

Dog of the week: Teddy

Meet Teddy!

Teddy is a charming six-year-old staffordshire terrier who has waited 130 days for the loving family he deserves.

Teddy found himself at the shelter through no fault of his own, and now this sleepy, sweet-natured gentleman is hoping to find a quiet, welcoming home where he can live his best life.

Staffordshire terriers like Teddy are known for their loyalty, affectionate nature, and eagerness to be part of the family.

As an older dog, Teddy’s training needs are minimal – a big plus for anyone looking for a companion without the challenges of puppyhood!

He’s a perfect match for someone working average hours – as long as he has some enrichment toys, treats, and a cozy spot to relax in while you’re away, he will be the happiest doggo ever.

Teddy dreams of being included in all aspects of family life, whether that’s joining you for leisurely strolls or curling up by your feet in the evening.

While he’s happy to share his love with his humans, Teddy prefers to be the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the attention.

Dog parks and off-leash areas aren’t his style – he much prefers calm, on-lead walks where he can enjoy his time with you without any unwanted distractions.

Teddy would thrive in a home with calm, dog-confident children who understand his laid-back personality.

He’s also a fan of daily mental and physical enrichment, so puzzle feeders and interactive toys will help keep him happy and healthy.

If you’re searching for a loyal, loving companion with a heart as big as his smile, Teddy is your perfect match.

Cat of the week: Tilly

Meet Tilly!

Tilly is a beautiful two-year-old tortoiseshell girl who has been waiting more than 140 days for her forever family.

Though she came into RSPCA NSW care from less-than-ideal circumstances, she hasn’t let that dampen her spirit and is still searching for that special person to help her discover all of the amazing things life has to offer.

Tortoiseshell cats are known for their unique coats and big personalities, and Tilly is no exception!

While she can be shy at first, her affectionate nature shines through once she feels safe and comfortable.

With a little patience and a lot of love, this “torti” will come out of her shell — pun intended — to become the smoochiest, most devoted girl you ever did see!

Tilly adores rolling over in her basket for pats and little head bunts, rewarding anyone who stops by to give her some love with purrs and cuddles.

She prefers a quiet home, ideally without children under six, where she can relax and truly thrive as she is still a little shy sometimes before she gets to know you.

As an indoor-only kitty, Tilly loves cozy spots where she can feel safe and secure and be protected from the dangers and hazards of the outside world.

Tilly, like all cats at the RSPCA, is fully desexed, microchipped, and up to date with her flea treatments, vaccinations, and vet checks. She’s ready to settle into a loving home where she can soak up all the attention and love she deserves.

If you’re ready to welcome this tortoiseshell beauty into your life, come meet Tilly today. She’s waiting to share her love and add a touch of “torti” magic to your home!

Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Rd, Unanderra, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 4271 3410.
