Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter

Dog of the week: Zola

Meet Zola!

Zola is a sweet natured, five-month-old bullmastiff pup looking for a loving family to spend her life with.

She is a gentle girl who has a big heart and lots of love to give to those she builds a connection with.

Zola didn’t have the best start to life, which has made her a little shy and cautious when it comes to meeting new people and exploring the world.

Zola would benefit from an experienced owner who understands how to gently introduce her to new experiences and provide a safe, stable environment for her to grow and build her confidence in.

Zola enjoys the company of other dogs and must go to a home that already has a dog.

She learns a lot from her canine companions in care and feels more at ease with some four-legged friends around.

In her new home, Zola will need a safe space where she can retreat when feeling overwhelmed.

Adjusting from the shelter can take time, sometimes up to three months, so it’s important not to flood her with too many new experiences too quickly.

It is a rewarding experience to be among Zola’s trusted few and she is sure to repay your love and patience with plenty of sweet puppy kisses.

If you have a loving home with another dog and the patience to help Zola feel safe and secure, come meet this sweet girl and see if she’s the perfect fit for your family.

Due to her shyness, Zola will only have one meet-and-greet per day to avoid her feeling overwhelmed.

If you would like to make an appointment to visit her please get in touch with the Illawarra Shelter on (02) 4271 3410.

Leonie

Cat of the Week: Leonie

Meet Leonie!

Leonie is a gorgeous four-year-old tabby cat who hopes her forever home is just around the corner.

Leonie and her brother came into care through no fault of their own.

With big, bright, curious eyes, it’s hard not to let Leonie capture your heart. She has a beautifully soft coat and the cutest little face you ever did see.

Alvin, her brother, has since found the home of his dreams – luckily Leonie prefers life as an only child, so she isn’t too sad about Alvin heading off to happier horizons without her.

She is hoping that a similar loving home will be hers soon, too.

Since coming into care, Leonie has spent her time adjusting and working on her confidence.

Sometimes the world can seem very big and scary to a wee little cat, which is why owners who can be patient and allow Leonie to settle in at her own pace would be perfect.

For this reason, she would do best in a household with adults or seniors who love to live a relaxed lifestyle.

Leonie enjoys her own company and doesn’t need any other feline companions around to keep her happy and content.

Some sweet and loving humans who can show her it is safe to bring out her affectionate side would do Leonie just fine!

This gentle girl isn’t looking for much, just a peaceful place to live with owners she can give all her love to.

Last week’s Pets of the Week, Goldie and Rufus, are still on the lookout for their forever homes.

Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Rd, Unanderra, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 4271 3410.
