A home that would stand the test of time, play backdrop to the lives of generations, and grow more beautiful with age — that was the brief for 99 Bong Bong Road, Broughton Vale, a property fittingly named ‘Tranquillity’.

Chosen for its reputation for lasting builds, Berry-based construction company Strongbuild was put to the task, and didn’t disappoint.

“This home has been such a centrepiece for my family,” owner Alisa Keele says. “It has meant a lot to us.”

Built on 2.12 picturesque hectares, the scene is set the moment you arrive via the private driveway.

It’s unsurprising to learn that long ago, an aborist lived on the property.

“They planted some rare and now, ancient trees on the property. That’s one thing we’ll miss greatly,” Alisa says.

“The home has these big wraparound verandahs where you can do yoga or enjoy a quiet drink. We would grab a coffee and orange cakes from Milkwood and sit there, overlooking the cubbyhouse and these beautiful, old trees.”

A creek, citrus groves, an idyllic pond hosting a family of ducks and the neighbouring forest all add to the idyllic setting.

“The creek is not roaring, it’s a gentle, bubbling creek, so kids can chuck on their gumboots and go exploring, see what they can find,” Alisa says.

“My kids would take baskets down to the citrus grove and bring home oranges that we’d make fresh juice with.

“It really is a storybook place.”

Entertaining on a grand scale is effortless with a covered alfresco area positioned alongside the tennis court, complete with a dedicated barbecue space.

It’s a setting built for the long lunch, the cocktail party, and the making of lasting memories.

“I hosted a big party there once with three long tables under the pergola, right next to the tennis court,” Alisa says. “It’s perfect for memorable occasions.”

But there’s more to it than the grounds.

Just 32 minutes from Sydney HeliTours in Mascot, Tranquillity is approved for landings and takeoffs.

Inside, the main residence reveals interiors that blur the boundary between indoors and out. Expansive sliding glass doors invite abundant light, air and landscape, complementing wide French oak flooring, soaring ceilings with exposed timber beams, lavish natural finishes and soft recessed lighting.

At the heart of this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is the open plan kitchen, dining and living space.

“We would often gather around the big zinc kitchen island,” Alisa says.

“If you were preparing food, you were still connected — everyone else would be around chatting or pitching in.

“On cold days, the fireplace could be crackling at the other end of the room, and although it’s a very expansive room with high ceilings, it always felt so warm and cosy.”

Each bedroom frames picture-perfect views and opens directly to the outdoors. The sumptuous private main suite has a walk-in wardrobe, complete with an on-demand fireplace and luxurious ensuite.

Even the functional spaces are imbued with charm.

The charming aesthetic of the European-style laundry/mudroom belies its practicality, including an ice-making machine, a hat tip to the home’s penchant for lively gatherings.

A thoughtfully integrated study makes the perfect spot to nip away quietly and get work done.

Reverse-cycle ducted underfloor air conditioning and heating throughout, ceiling fans and the ambient warmth of the fireplaces ensure year-round comfort.

A separate studio with another bathroom makes the ideal guest quarters.

Though supremely private and serene, this idyllic retreat is located just seven minutes from Berry’s charming cafes and boutiques, and beautiful beach coastline, offering an outstanding lifestyle and convenience.

“Whether it’s a weekender or a family home, it feels like a destination holiday retreat,” Alisa says.
