An onsite ‘builder open day’ at Shell Cove’s most prestigious pocket, The Peninsula, attracted strong interest in the final land blocks available in The Waterfront development.

Frasers Property Australia teamed with four leading builders to offer a range of house and land packages during an open event on 30 June for the beachfront and marina fronting land options.

The Peninsula is part of The Waterfront, Shell Cove, an award-winning masterplanned community by Shellharbour City Council with Frasers Property Australia that has been more than 30 years in the making and is now entering its final three years.

Project sales manager Bernie Humphreys said about half of the 37 original land lots were now sold since they were made available in May last year, with 17 still available.

Bernie said sought-after The Peninsula occupied a prime position within Shell Cove, between the white sands of Shellharbour South Beach and the new Shellharbour Marina and was the only Shell Cove precinct with lots providing direct access to the beach and marina.

He said it had the addition of Shellharbour Village being within easy walking distance, while Shell Cove Town Centre and The Waterfront dining precinct were easily accessible via the marina boardwalks.

While incentives were provided to encourage sales, Bernie said the event wasn’t designed as a sales event but as an opportunity for people to speak with builders and gain access to view the sites.

He said with the weather not favourable, it went better than he expected with 18 groups attending and showing interest in what were regarded as more premium blocks.

“It’s just to get people down to see the view lines from the scaffold staircase structures that are there,” he said.

“A block of land is a bit vanilla, because it’s what you create with it.

“They thought it was really good to be able to meet builders directly.”

Construction is expected to begin on the first lot of homes soon.

He said while at one time there was a display village at Shell Cove for people to connect with builders, the open day gave them a chance to connect with four builders – Worthington Homes, G.J. Gardner, Fairmont Homes and Bellriver Homes.

“I can’t say that this idea is the first ever, but it’s certainly the first for a long time and the first time we’ve had an event with builders presenting their wares in marquees and having some music,” he said.

“It’s definitely the first time we’ve done this for The Peninsula.

“Every other week another block sells, but at these price points they’re not the type of blocks that walk out the door by themselves.

“These are premium blocks and the last that we have.”

Development director Mathew Gulliver said the house and land packages offered at The Peninsula were carefully chosen to complement the coastal landscape and lifestyle.

“We know many homebuyers want to design their dream home from scratch, but others want a solution that gives them the perfect floorplan and luxurious inclusions without the need to decide on every detail,” Mathew said.

“We’re catering to different types of buyers at The Peninsula.”

Bernie said with plans already going through the process of getting approved, he expected construction to start on the first houses soon.

The northern end of The Peninsula will be framed with green open space adjacent to the beach, and an adventure playground and scenic lookout next to the harbour will be built to the south.

Walkways and boardwalks will connect homes in The Peninsula to all the amenities.

The Waterfront, Shell Cove project has already seen the completion of the marina, town centre, dining precinct, children’s beach, and marina services centre, with the Crowne Plaza Hotel due for completion next year, and a proposed library and community centre in the planning stages.

Interested homebuyers are encouraged to visit The Waterfront Sales Centre, located in the Shell Cove Town Centre or visit the website.
