The final chance for golfers to grab one of two coveted spots in the prestigious Ford NSW Women’s Open event will be on offer at The Links Shell Cove.

The prestigious three-day regional qualifying series tournament is one of six to be played across NSW, featuring professional and elite amateur golfers.

The event, from 17-19 February, will also allow The Links to host a pro-am leading into the two-day championship qualifier, giving locals and visitors the chance to play alongside local and international professional talent in women’s golf.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the event was a major win for the city and a chance to showcase the region’s world-class golfing facilities and tourism.

“This is a proud moment for Shellharbour. Hosting a women’s state qualifier puts our city and our course on show and we’re thrilled to welcome players, visitors and fans to experience everything our region has to offer,” he said.

Each of the six qualifying events in the series features a $50,000 prize pool and the final round at Shell Cove will be broadcast live on Kayo Sports. Players will vie for a chance to claim one of two qualifying spots in the Ford Women’s NSW Open.

The series started at Mollymook Golf Club on Thursday 9 October. Qualifiers will also be held at Wagga Wagga, Dubbo, Narrabri and the Southern Highlands before finishing at Shell Cove.

Golf NSW CEO Stuart Fraser said the Regional Qualifying Series highlighted the organisation’s commitment to growing the women’s game and showcasing elite golf in towns and cities across the state.

“Regional qualifying ensures that players from all corners of NSW and beyond have the opportunity to compete for a place in the Ford Women’s NSW Open,” he said.

“Equally important, these events bring significant economic and social benefits to their host towns, inspiring local players and fans while showcasing the best of regional golf.”

Spectators are encouraged to attend, with free entry available across all three days.
