Ancora and Nautilus, two luxury apartment buildings at The Waterfront, Shell Cove, have officially opened, welcoming new residents to the harbourside community.
Completed within a month of one another, the complexes, developed by Shellharbour City Council and Frasers Property Australia, feature a combined 180 apartments with resort-style amenities and prime access to Shellharbour Marina, Shell Cove’s dining precinct, and the future Crowne Plaza hotel.
Frasers Property Australia development director Mathew Gulliver said the company was thrilled to be welcoming new residents to the area with the opening of the two buildings.
“These residents arrive at a newly completed marina and harbour, a thriving retail and dining precinct, established walking paths and boardwalks, and a soon-to-be-completed five-star hotel complex,” Mr Gulliver said.
A winner of state and national design awards from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (NSW), the distinctive, curved, harbour-front Nautilus building features 116 apartments with panoramic marina and ocean views and resort-style facilities including a pool, rooftop terrace and gym.
Jeremy and Trish Fox moved into their two-bedroom, two-bathroom, third-floor Nautilus apartment in September.
“It’s our first experience of apartment living, and we are absolutely blown away,” Jeremy said.
“There are beautiful walks around the community. Our first weekend we went walking with the dog and the weather was stunning and it was just magic.”
Jeremy said everyone they encountered, from the boardwalks to the apartment complex garage, was friendly and welcoming.
“It’s just the whole vibe of the place – I feel very comfortable here,” he said.
At Ancora, brother and sister George and Diana Marentis moved out of their parents’ nearby Shell Cove house into a two-bedroom, two-bathroom wetlands-view apartment they purchased together.
Ancora has 64 low-rise apartments bounded by the new Shellharbour Marina and landscaped wetlands. It is adjacent to the future Shell Cove Crowne Plaza, Illawarra’s first five-star hotel, which will open early next year.
Being the first time they’d lived out of home, mechanic George and teacher Diana said the change in lifestyle suited them.
“We’re both loving the apartment lifestyle,” George said.
“We’ve got a little dog, so we take him for walks to the marina and the cafes, and Woolies is nearby.”
Shellharbour City Council Mayor Chris Homer welcomed the new residents and extended his congratulations to Frasers Property on the completion of Nautilus and Ancora.
“Frasers Property has done a great job in delivering these buildings to such a high standard while navigating the complexities of what has been a very challenging period for the construction industry,” Cr Homer said.
Frasers Property’s next Shell Cove apartment complex, Vela, is adjacent to the Shellharbour Marina and now under construction.
