Warrawong man faces 17 charges after police find stash of drugs, weapons

A 30-year-old Warrawong man was charged with 17 drug and weapons offences on Wednesday (4 September).

A NSW Police spokesperson said at about 5 pm on Wednesday officers attached to the Southern Operations Group executed a search warrant at a home in Greene Street, Warrawong.

“A sawn-off shotgun, air rifle, ammunition, a loaded crossbow, a sling shot with a scope, a butterfly knife, zombie knife, cannabis, MDMA and prescription medication were seized,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.

“A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with 17 offences.”

The offences included possessing an unauthorised firearm, two counts of not keeping a firearm safely, four counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit, custody of a knife in a public place, possessing a shortened firearm without authority, possessing ammunition without holding a licence, four counts of possessing a prohibited drug, driving with a cancelled license, driving an unregistered registerable Class A motor vehicle and driving a registrable vehicle without displaying authorised number plates.

The man appeared before Wollongong Local Court today (5 September) and was refused bail to reappear at the same court on 25 September 2024.
