This passenger admitted to NSW Police that he was “being dumb” and the driver lost his licence after a dangerous stunt was caught on video at Waterfall.

A post on the Traffic and Highway Patrol Facebook page said other drivers called police to alert them to the unfolding incident.

Witnesses reported the teenage driver was allegedly weaving through peak‑hour traffic while his rear‑left passenger climbed out of the moving vehicle’s window and sat on the sill with his upper body fully outside.

Sutherland Highway Patrol stopped the vehicle on the Princes Highway at Waterfall.

The passenger admitted to police he was “being dumb” and received penalty notices for failing to wear a seatbelt and placing part of his body outside the car.

The 17‑year‑old provisional driver faces a number of charges for allegedly not displaying P plates (two demerit points) and driving a high‑performance VW Golf R (seven demerit points), which P1 drivers are prohibited from operating.

Police issued him a court attendance notice for driving in a dangerous manner and immediately suspended his licence.
