Mt Ousley Road between the M1 Princes Motorway and Gaynor Avenue will be closed to traffic for a weekend to allow for work to continue on the Mt Ousley Interchange.

It will be the first of four weekend closures over the next six months.

A Transport for NSW notification said the work would include increasing the level of Mt Ousley Road and building new road pavement between Gaynor Avenue and the motorway, as well as building part of the new intersection at Mt Ousley Road and the motorway.

Work will also be carried out on the new southbound access road to University Avenue.

Mt Ousley Road will be closed between Gaynor Avenue and the motorway from 6 am on Saturday 7 February to 4 am on Monday 9 February.

As part of the work plan, the commuter carpark will be closed from 6 am on Monday 2 February to 6 am Monday 9 February.

Signage will be in place to notify carpark users in advance.

Motorists will be detoured via the Princes Highway, Memorial Drive and University Avenue, and should allow up to five minutes additional travel time.

Southbound heavy vehicles over 4.6 metres high will be able to access the University Avenue overpass.

Northbound heavy vehicles over 4.9 metres high will be parked up and escorted through the worksite when conditions permit. Delays of up to one hour should be expected.

If weather impacts the planned work it will be postponed to between 6 am on Saturday 14 February and 4 am on Monday 16 February.

Electronic message signs and livetraffic.com will advertise road closure dates in advance and any changes to dates due to weather impacts.
