24-year-old to face court following fatal Mt Ousley crash

Wollongong police have charged a driver following the death of a motorcyclist on Mount Ousley on Friday (19 July).

A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services responded to a crash between a car and a motorbike on the M1 Motorway at about 4:10 pm on Friday.

When officers attached to Wollongong Police District arrived on the scene, near New Mount Pleasant Road, Mount Pleasant, on Mount Ousley, they found a Toyota SUV and a motorcycle had collided.

“The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old man, died before the arrival of emergency services,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.

“The driver, a 24-year-old woman, was uninjured and taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing.

“Officers established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident with assistance from specialist police.

“Following inquiries, police charged the 24-year-old with negligent driving occasioning death.”

The woman was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court today (20 July).

Inquiries are continuing.
