Teen drowns at popular Kiama beach

An 18-year-old has drowned at a popular beach in the Illawarra.

“At about 12:50 pm on Monday (2 June), emergency services responded to the northern end of Bombo Beach on Darien Avenue, Bombo, following reports of a person in trouble in the water,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

“Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District, NSW Police Rescue, Surf Life Saving and POLAir responded.”

NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and commenced CPR, but the man could not be revived.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
