Man, 41, drowns after falling into surf near Bombo Headland

A man has died after being pulled from the water at Bombo Headland.

Emergency services were called to Darien Avenue at about 3:30 pm on Sunday (14 April) following reports a man had fallen into the water.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District responded, along with Surf Life Saving and NSW Ambulance.

NSW Ambulance performed CPR; however, the 41-year-old man died at the scene. It is believed he was an overseas tourist.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Kiama Council lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers have begun their school holiday beach patrols at Surf Beach and Werri Beach seven days a week and at Jones Beach on weekends and public holidays.

Beach patrols will end on Sunday, April 28.
