Ravensthorpe Estate is once again walking down the aisle of success, claiming ‘Historic Wedding Venue’ for the third consecutive year at the Australian Wedding Awards this month in Sydney.

Barrington Group Australia group marketing lead Talia Reedy said the win on 7 January was a proud moment for the team behind the Albion Park venue.

“We are thrilled to be awarded Australian Historic Wedding Venue of the Year three years in a row,” Ms Reedy said.

“It is an incredible honour and reflects the hard work of our team.

“It’s also wonderful recognition from couples and the wedding industry for the unique experiences we create at Ravensthorpe Estate.”

Ms Reedy said Ravensthorpe’s continued success came down to its focus on delivering personalised, memorable celebrations within a setting steeped in history.

The estate, dating back to the 1890s, boasts a rich history of weddings right back to its original owner, the area’s first physician Dr Arthur Wigley Bateman, his wife Anna Louisa and their 11 children.

Its first wedding was held in 1907, between Dr Bateman’s eldest daughter Mary and Jack “John” Raftery, with the reception held at the house.

Jack later bought the property from Dr Bateman, with each of the suites now named after each of the previous owners.

Ms Reedy said alongside its historic setting, the hat-trick win also reflected its ability to innovate, its focus on creating personalised experiences for couples, and its collaborations with South Coast suppliers and creatives.

“Their creativity and professionalism play a vital role in helping us deliver outstanding weddings,” she said.

“From the stunning historic setting to the attention to detail in every aspect of a wedding, we focus on delivering an exceptional experience that blends elegance, charm and a sense of celebration.”

While several historic wedding venues exist across NSW, she said demand remained strong among couples seeking something distinctive.

“Couples looking for a historic venue want character, charm and a memorable experience,” she said.

Ms Reedy said many couples were also drawn to historic venues for their timeless atmosphere, beautiful architecture and grounds, and “the way historic appeal can be paired with modern comforts”.

She said Ravensthorpe had continued to do just this in recent years, introducing new features while preserving its heritage.

“In recent years, Ravensthorpe has added a stunning pavilion, which is one of our main reception spaces,” Ms Reedy said.

“We’ve also introduced a wood-fired pizza oven and outdoor entertaining areas, combining modern functionality with the estate’s historic charm to create a memorable experience for couples and their guests.”

Ravensthorpe Estate is located at 56 Tongarra Road, Albion Park.
