UPDATED: Man charged with murder after body found in Wollongong train station car park

UPDATE 14 MAY: a 37-year-old man faced Wollongong Court on Tuesday, 14 May, charged with murder.

NSW Police say they arrested the man in Crown Street after the body of a 68-year-old man was found at Wollongong train station on Sunday, 12 May.

EARLIER: A man has been arrested after a body was found near Wollongong train station early on Sunday morning (12 May).

Police were called to the station car park in Station Street at about 7:20 am where they found a man’s body.

While he is yet to be formally identified, police believe he is a local 68-year-old man. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine cause of death and confirm the man’s identity.

Police arrested a 37-year-old man around 10:40 am. He has been taken to Wollongong Police Station as inquiries continue.
