A Wollongong shop worker was allegedly assaulted twice during a robbery in Keira Street on Tuesday evening (4 February).
NSW Police are calling for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
About 6:45 pm, a man and woman entered a store and requested five items from behind the counter.
Police allege that when the 23-year-old male employee produced the items, the pair ran from the shop, taking the items without paying.
The employee chased them and stopped the woman nearby, but she didn’t have the items and fled, police alleged.
Police alleged that after the worker returned to the store, a third person entered and repeatedly assaulted him before running away.
The employee chased down the man but was again allegedly assaulted.
Witnesses contacted emergency services. The employee was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment to abrasions and swelling to his face and a fractured left shoulder.
