Police call for information after home invasion, fire at Bellambi

Police are appealing for information after two men were injured during a home invasion and house fire in Bellambi.

It’s believed two men armed with an axe and a tyre iron broke into the house, assaulted the two occupants and set the house on fire.

They fled after being confronted by one of the residents.

Emergency services were called to the house on Sellers Crescent, Bellambi just after 4:20 am on Thursday (31 August), following reports of a fire.

Wollongong police found a 47-year-old man and a 41-year-old man with head injuries, and the house alight.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.

Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident has commenced.
