Weather permitting, work currently taking place on Woonona Pool and amenities is expected to conclude at the start of June.

Wollongong City Council is seizing the quieter off-season as the perfect time to give the well-used beach pool a much-needed spruce-up.

Set on Collins Point, Woonona Rock Pool has a 50 m pool with diving blocks and a historic pavilion with a viewing platform.

Work will involve painting the building’s interior and exterior, including the shower areas, doors and frames, columns, arches and handrail observation area.

Damaged and broken tiles in the toilet, shower and sink areas will be removed and the rusted-out electrical light cage covers replaced.

While crews are on site, the amenities will be fenced off for community safety and two temporary toilets will be placed near the existing amenities block for public use.

The rock pool and amenities’ external showers will remain open and available to swimmers during the works.
