Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter

Dog of the week: Fletch

Meet Fletch, a playful and energetic nine-month-old staffy-cross with a zest for life!

Fletch is a young pup who is a joy to be around in the shelter and much loved by staff.

Beware – he’s a strong competitor in the ‘best puppy dog eyes’ competition, and once you look into them your heart may melt!

Fletch is looking for a forever home where he can burn off his energy and continue learning about the world.

Fletch would thrive in a family that can keep up with his lively personality, and he’d love a home where someone works average hours as he enjoys company but can also handle some time by himself.

Fletch is friendly with other dogs and has shown no issues with other animals in the past. Although he’s full of energy, he prefers a calm and quiet household where he can relax after his daily playtime.

Being a young pup, Fletch would do best in a home with children who are confident around dogs and their boisterous energy.

In his foster home he was known to be a very good boy who was quite gentle around his small human siblings.

Fletch would love to go home with some experienced owners who can help guide him through puppyhood and manage his eagerness to learn and explore.

Lots of treats and training time wouldn’t go astray in helping this sweet boy learn how to be the bestest dog ever!

A home where he has both indoor and outdoor access would be fantastic for Fletch, as he loves to be active but is also fond of some quiet time indoors with his family.

He is a smart boy and really enjoys having something to do and keep his mind busy. Snuffle and lick mats are his favourite ways to stay entertained.

Cat of the week: Chicken

Meet Chicken!

Chicken is a sweet and curious two-year-old female cat with a playful and goofy spirit!

Chicken is a stunning tortie girl, whose coat is as gorgeous and quirky as her name!

She has worked with staff and volunteers to build her confidence since she came into care through no fault of her own.

Now she is looking for a safe space she can settle down in with some loving owners.

Though she may be a little shy at first, once she feels comfortable, Chicken transforms into a sweet girl who wants nothing more than the company of those she loves most.

Her friendly and affectionate personality makes her a wonderful companion for any family who can meet her needs.

Chicken would do best as the only pet in a calm, quiet home with no children under 12 as she sometimes gets spooked around new people and loud noises.

Despite her initial timidness, Chicken has truly blossomed into a beautiful cat who is ready to bring lots of love, laughter, and cuddles into your life!

If you’re looking for a gentle, playful and affectionate girl with lots of love to give please call the Illawarra shelter a call or a visit.

Last week’s pets, Mick and Hontas, are still on the hunt for their forever homes.

Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Rd, Unanderra, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 4271 3410.
