Two teens have been charged after a violent brawl on Burelli Street last week.
A NSW Police spokesperson said they were called to a park in Wollongong CBD at about 10 pm on Thursday (31 October) following reports of a stabbing.
“Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and were told a group of people were allegedly involved in a brawl, before a teenage boy, aged 16, was stabbed multiple times,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“The boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“A crime scene was established which was examined by specialist officers, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.
“At about 2:45 pm the following day (1 November), a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Dapto and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with wounding a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“He was refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court on Saturday (2 November), where he was again refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court on Tuesday (12 November).
“Following investigations, a 17-year-old boy attended Wollongong Police Station on Wednesday (6 November) and was arrested and charged with affray.”
The boy was refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court later the same day.
