Tullimbar fertility healer Melissa Maddison has helped women to fall pregnant after undergoing IVF, experiencing a loss or years of infertility.

Melissa was led to energy healing after 15 years as an oncology nurse specialising in caring for women with breast cancer and later overcoming her own infertility challenges.

“I very much walked the path that I talk about,” she said.

“I was one of the lucky ones. I didn’t have a long journey with infertility because I was drawn straightaway to fertility healing work.

“So 2008 was when I finished my diploma (of energy healing), but it was around that time that I was trying to fall pregnant with my first child.

“I was fortunate enough to be the recipient of energy healing, and that’s what turned things around for me and now I’m blessed to be able to help other women too.”

The mother of two has healed clients with varying challenges through her business Pure Energy Therapies, but it’s fertility healing she’s been most drawn to, helping women in the Illawarra and around the world to fall pregnant naturally.

“A lady had treatment for breast cancer, and she was told by medical officers that she wouldn’t be able to ever have children of her own because of the taxing nature of the chemotherapy treatments for the breast cancer,” she said.

“Then she trusted her intuition, which she was always proud of, because she had a very science-y background and didn’t understand what she might have been getting in for coming and having a healing.

“She had a healing session and was able to have a pregnancy of her own in her own body and she has a beautiful four-year-old daughter now.”

Sometimes, the results surprised her years into the future.

“I had a cleaner once, and she had a lot of loss and she was struggling to get pregnant using medical models,” she said.

“She had a healing and then we’d actually parted ways due to me not requiring a cleaner anymore.

“I was very pleasantly surprised when I wanted her to come back and clean for me to know that she was on maternity leave, and I could no longer use her services because she was busy taking care of her beautiful child.”

Melissa said a big part of the healing was women feeling safe in their body to be able to bring a baby into the world.

“There’s a real clarity that comes from having a healing,” she said.

“Some women have walked away from a healing and just known that they’ve had plans to do IVF and had that clarity of, ‘I know I don’t need it anymore’.

“Then they’ll have their own natural pregnancies a couple of months later.

“I’ve had one lady ask me if could I shut down the fertility healing.

“She had infertility for about eight years, then she had healing with me and she’s gone on to have two boys.”

Melissa admits being an energy alchemist is an “out-there concept” for some, and something she’s had to come to terms with herself, despite having the gift since she was young.

“I’ve had to go on that journey myself to ironically embody those gifts, and it’s still ongoing, to be honest, to feel that confidence and what people may think if you say that this is something you’re capable of,” she said.

“I was an oncology nurse for 15 years. I now know, when I look back, that was my training ground,” she said of it helping strengthen her intuition.

Melissa said she doesn’t fit the traditional healer stereotype, often described as “grounded” in her approach, healing someone often within one session and opting for tailored business trousers over cheesecloth skirts.

“They say ‘lean into love’, and I’m like ‘well, that’s lovely, but what does it actually mean?'” she said.

Understanding how to communicate in simple terms the steps to heal to be able to then have a baby has been part of her work.

Being a car person, she said we were like “cars going through life”.

“When we’ve had a lot of traumatic experiences or really challenging experiences physically and/or emotionally and mentally, it’s like we get more mud thrown on us,” she said.

“Sometimes it’s necessary mud like, for instance, my cancer patient that had the fertility treatment, so the mud and the trauma was from a necessary trauma going through chemotherapy, but traumatic, nonetheless.

“So that can have that impact on your body.

“Whereas some people come to me and metaphorically it’s like they’ve been four-wheel driving, because they’ve got so much trauma being held in their energy system and in their body that they really need that support to clear it off.”

She said clearing that energy was like going through “a powerful carwash”.

“The healing is all about clearing off that mud and that belief of not feeling safe and connected in your body to then feel safe to bring a baby through.”
